Connor
(Welsh x)

Gibson
(Black Fresian X)

Connor has a sweet nature and is a wonderful children's pony. He will happily carry his small charges over a course of jumps or take the youngest child out for their first hack.

Gibson stands 15.3 hands high. He has a heart of gold and the most forgiving nature. He is a steady reliable mount for the most novice of riders. His calm temperament and ability to jump anything enables him to take time out from riding school duties to become a capable and enjoyable hunter. His talents do not end there as he is also a smart carriage driving horse.

Mozart
(Highland)

Moonshine
(Highland - 'Moonshine of Glenairlie')

What a fab pony! Easily recognised by his short tail - it just does not grow. He is a typical Highland pony with a super temperament and remarkable ability to jump and a talent for dressage. An enjoyable mount for children and adults.

Another of Beechwood's beloved Highlands. She has a patient gentle nature and a tendency to overeat! She looks after the nervous children and is always ready to look after any new horses that come to Beechwood.

Keeper
(Dutch Warmblood - 'Gamekeeper')

Jessie
(Highland - 'Jessie of Rosefield')

A bay gelding standing 16.3hh. He is a perfect gentleman in and out of the stable. As a sporthorse he was bred for dressage and he will certainly give the more educated rider the fluent feel of advanced movements.

Jessie is our third generation of home-bred Highland ponies - she is every child's dream, with long flowing mane and enchanting personality. She has an eagerness to please and never fails to delight her rider.

Hobbit
(Fresian - 'Waylands Hobbit')

Charlie Brown
(Welsh Cob x Arab)

A beautiful, elegant gentleman with manners to die for. He has a long curly mane and tail. He has wonderful elevated paces and freedom of movement - you feel that you could sit n him all day.

Charlie is a good looking fellow who has settled down and made lots of new friends both equine and human. He has a wonderful personality and is able to give confidence to the most nervous novice rider and still give an educated ride to a more experienced partner.

Max
(Cob)

Solo
(Hackney - from Argentina)

Max is a big handsome cob whose only downfall is his lack of bravery, he would much rather hack out with his friends than alone! You may have heard horses described as an armchair ride ... Max is more like a sofa, anyone would be happy to sit on him all day.

When Solo first came to Beechwood she had only been ridden a little as Hackneys are driving horses and she seemed so sad. She had probably had a fairly hard time before coming to the UK. She is now very happy and settled and is a good member of the Beechwood team.

Blossom
(Orlov Trotter x Cob)

Skye
(Highland x Thoroughbred)

A more biddable creature you will not find. She will do her best to please her rider. At 16 hands high she is big enough for our larger riders, but gentle enough for a child. As a relative newcomer to Beechwood we are still discovering her talents. She is also a carriage driving horse; so we all look forward to having lots of fun with our most recent acquisition.

Quick witted, intelligent and eager to please. Her positive approach to the job in hand will inspire the most negative rider to 'have a go', whether it is dressage, jumping, cross-country or endurance riding. Her enthusiasm is infectious.

William
(Welsh Pony - 'Sweet William')

Chance
(Irish Cob)

William is a popular pony with all the children. His former career was that of a professional jumping pony. He has also been in the Pony Club team for the Prince Phillip Games. He has taught many children to ride and obviously enjoys his job.

What a smart horse! An excellent all-rounder who is very popular with adults and children. She has a patient understanding nature and a good work attitude.

Chloe
(Cob)

Farrier & Farmer
(Dartmoors)

A smart cob who will take some beating when it comes to versatility. She can (and does) turn her hoof to any equine pastime. An excellent hack, talented and obedient in the school with a comfortable jump, she enjoys lots of outings to shows, cross country and hunting. Easily recognised as she has a big pink nose!

These two ponies have to be described together. Half-brothers, born in Widecombe Dartmoor within two days of each other - they have never been separated. They have quite different temperaments. Farrier is cheeky and an excellent jumper while Farmer enjoys a quiet life and likes to be a 'good boy.' Farrier and Farmer are learning to carriage drive as a pair. So look out for this delightful pair trotting around the countryside.

Daisy
(Irish Draught x Shire)

Viking
(Haflinger)

A splendid lady with a huge bottom and a heart of gold. She is up to weight and admirably suitable for our larger riders, but her kind nature also makes her popular with everyone. She really enjoys her outings to shows and has had a few days hunting.

He also came from Belgium and, although he is not related to Hansel and Gretel, they are firm friends known collectively as 'The Sunshine Ponies.' He has the most fantastic friendly personality and is a pleasure to ride. Worth his weight in gold!

Hansel & Gretel
(Haflingers)

Another two ponies who need to be described together. They arrived just before Christmas 2006 from Belgium where they had been driven as a pair showing tourists the city. They now are super riding ponies and have looks to die for.

Little Dylan
(Cob)

Custard
(Haflinger x Welsh)

A super smart cob who excels in school work. A firm favourite with all who ride him, suitable for children and small adults, he will give confidence to the nervous rider. He is anyone's ride - a treasure.

He is a 'cheeky chappy', with a pretty face and almost a mischievous grin. He loves to jump (especially cross-country) and enjoys his days out at the Hunter Trials and Showjumping. A very capable good fun pony.
